Quantum Gravity - There are No Objects, Only Processes

Slide 7

Note
All entities in the universe change constantly and are therefore processes. Static, unchanging objects are illusory.

For example, let's consider Mt Rainier. Anyone who has been up there knows that the mountain is a very dynamic environment. Rock, soil, water, snow, and ice are constantly on the move, sometimes slowly, sometimes not so slowly. And the entire mountain changes radically over long times. For example, Little Tahoma is part of what remains from one side of the mountain before enormous explosions reshaped the mountain around 6 thousand years ago. Prior to the explosions, Mt Rainier was much larger and 500 to 1000 ft higher. (See Cascade Alpine Guide: Climbing and High Routes 1: Columbia River to Stevens Pass, 2nd Ed., Fred Beckey, Mountaineers Books, 1987, pp. 85-6.)

Since change is the rule, the way to understand the universe as a whole and the processes within it is to tell stories, that is to describe the webs of causal relationships between processes that comprise their histories and possible futures.
